How do you produce the colour red by colour subtraction?

In physics, we learn about pigments…by using colour subtraction, how do you create the colour red.

Pink - White = Red
Purple - Blue = Red
Orange - Yellow = Red

    I would say, Orange - Yellow would give you Red.

    Also, Purple - Blue or Pink - Red.

    All of those color/colour combinations include red.

    In tri- or quadrichromy (the printing process used by color printers notably) red is done by mixing or otherwise superposing yellow and magenta ink.
