ok here erik1089- you can end up 46 substracting 4 from 40.. ok it’s = 36.. who ever has done is definetly done WRONG.. when you borrow from 4 to ten place then then you will get 36 insted of 46 and when you minus borrowed 10-4 =6 and brought down 3 = 36

Sure it is, that is why it works. Why take the time to write it all out when you can do it faster by just writing the answer.
You can do two digit numbers in your head without having to write anything. Probably three digit numbers with some practice.

The pattern for 4 digit numbers could be figured out. It takes 7 sets of boxes.
If you’re multiplying 4 digits with 3, just add a zero in front of the 3 digits.

All you do is put a 1 for the first number since it always be that, then add the last numbers together and if it’s one digit just add a zero in front then multiply the last numbers together and that’s your answer.
Only works for numbers 104-109
