Is an opening or closing parenthesis used to indicate multiplication?
This question was on my test and I wanted to know if I got it right. The question was: True or false, an opening or closing parenthesis can be used to indicate multiplication. I guessed and put down false. Which is it, and if it is false, why? Thank you!
true
you can put a variable next to a number to indicate multiplication, such as 5a
it is the same thing as that, except you are using a number instead of a variable
say 5(5) was the multiplication problem
it could be written as 5 x 5 or 5(5).. same thing, it doesnt make a difference,

answer is true.
4(3x - 2) –> 4 is being multiplied by what is inside the ( ) and it is next to opening parenthesis.
(2x - 4)6 –> 6 is being multiplied by what is inside the () and is next to the closing parenthesis
