Chinese Multiplication
This is a video I made… it is a simple Maths solution I learned back in technical college when I was studying for my diploma. To multiply any two numbers without using a calculator all you need is simple Arithmatic and Chinese Multiplication!
If you don’t get it just follow the steps in the video… you can use a calculator to check your results….
Simple… ….and Enlightening

This is the Lattis multiplicatoin method. It’s nothing special, I learned this in grade school and it’s my main form of multiplication. I’m not Chinese, btw.

hi, when you have …
hi, when you have filled the boxes by multiplying each number with its corresponding number, simply add the numbers in the diagonal rows, and write the answer below that row. If the answer for that row is greater than ten (ie. two digits) carry the greater digit over to the next diagonal row on the left and add the numbers as before. For example if the answer for adding a diagonal row of numbers is 15 then you would write 5 below that row and carry 1 over to the next row… hope this helps!?
