As long as you're multiplying the fractions by integers and not other fractions, all you have to do is multiply the numerators together, and then divide that product by the denominator.

What you have is the same thing as this

(8*3)/4
or (-14*5)/8

which equal 6 and -8.75 respectively.

In plain English, you would ask "What number is three fourths of 8?" Dividing 8 into 4 parts and multiplying by 3, we would still get 6.
References :
you take the whole number and put it over 1 as denominator and then multiply the problem nominator x nominator /denominator x denominator and you should get either a fraction or a whole number. it depends which one you are given
References :
my math experiences
