What does a number over 1 in a fraction equal?
In a fraction, when a number appears over the number 1(<–denominator) what does it equal. Some people have told me that a number over 1 is one of the ways you can express a fraction that equals a whole number. Is this true or is it incorrect?
That’s true. For example 57/1 = 57.
2/1 = 2.

Any number over 1 is equal to that number. For example, 8/1=8. Another example is -2/1=-2.

x / 1 = x since you are dividing by the multiplicative identitiy.
For example, 23/1 = 23.
45.037/ 1 = 45.037
(x + 7)/1 = x+ 7
Writing the 1 is usually supressed, but for beginners it is sometimes helpful to wrtie explicity when doing operations with fractions to help you keep things straight.

that is correct a number over 1 is a whole number.
For example: 10/1=10
30/1=30
90/1 =90
1000/1=1000 and so on

yes its true. but u can also express it by multiplying the whole # u want to represent by the denominator.
for the method u were given(easier to understand)
ex) 7/1=7
1/1=1
2/1=1
11111100000001111/1=11111100000001111
for the other way…
ex) 21/3=7
7×3=21
3 is the denominator
7=21/3
