How to find a geometry tutor. Is there an agency or something like that?

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

I need some help in geometry, but not much because i understand everything. I am just not doing as well on the tests as i should be. I am in 9th grade taking a 10th grade class. How can i find some help outside of school?

Since you wrote "outside of school," I guess you don’t want to use a student who signed up to be a tutor at your school. Your advisement office would have a list of them. Well, if there is a college or university in your area, there are probably students there who would love to earn money by tutoring. You (or your parent) could call the math department there (the number will be on the school’s website) and see if anyone’s available. There are tutoring services that have tutors in many subjects, and you would go to their offices or sometimes the tutor can come to your house. Look online for tutoring services. Google "tutoring services (your state)"

what’s the difference between high school geometry and college geometry?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

im planning to take plane geometry at my local college for spring semester so i can be in trig in 9th grade. is that a good idea? its college levled and what does that mean anyways? is it more advanced?
what is geometry like in college? do i need to do alot ALOT of studying to succeed in this class?
thx!!
p.s. :is alg 2 and trig the same thing? intermediate algebra?

There is no college geometry unless you were at a community college in which case it is the same as the high schools. You shouldn’t need extra studying it’s really straight forward as long as you pay attention.

How does geometry influence the lives of biologists and artists?

Friday, November 20th, 2009

How does geometry influence the lives of biologists and artists? why would knowing and being able to work with geometry make artists’ work more interesting and sometimes easier? Please be serious, and information. Thank you -Erin

Every artist uses geometry weather they know it or not.

Definition:

1. mathematics of shapes: the branch of mathematics that is concerned with the properties and relationships of points, lines, angles, curves, surfaces, and solids
This is the key point to all art! Geometry was started after art its apart of it not the other way around. Just like how math was founded to support science.

i’m not sure how it relates to biologists(since im not one)

What’s the difference between VSEPR geometry and shape?

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

My chem homework has two questions:
1. Predict the VSEPR geometries around the N atoms in ammonia
2. Predict the shapes around the N atoms in ammonia.

I thought geometry and shape were the same thing?

No, they’re different. Water for example has two non-bonding pairs of electrons. Its shape is "bent". Ammonia (NH3) is "trigonal pyramid", and methane (CH4) is "tetrahedral", all different shapes with the same electronic configuration.

Just to be clear, "geometry" refers to the position of electron pairs in space, "shape" refers to the position of atoms.

Geometry Problem that is tough

Please Help me, Ill give you 10 points if your answer is the best

Hi,

Answers I and III work.

Answer I proves congruent triangles by angle - side - angle.
Answer II shows angle - side - side, which is not an approved way to show triangles are congruent, so it is eliminated.
Answer III proves congruent triangles by angle - angle - side.

So the correct answer is: I and III.

I hope that helps!! :-)

What are some sacred geometry aspects that are featured on the mandir in Toronto?

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

In specific the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir.
For example, what do the quantity and details of the turrets represent?
As well as any other facts regarding sacred geometry you can share.

Thank you.

what are you talking about? God? God bless you.

GEOMETRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

what are the side lengths of 2 different cubes that are 35cm and 42cm?

what is the ratio of the volume of the smaller ot the volume of the larger in simplest from?

What does the following mean: "2 different cubes that are 35cm and 42cm"? That is, what dimension of the cubes are 35 cm and 42 cm?

How do you study for a geometry exam when you only have the night before to study?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

I have a 9th grade geometry final exam tomorrow afternoon, and i feel that I definitely haven’t studied enough or properly.

Your fault. Face the truth. You had all year to understand the material and probably a few reading days with which to study.

You won’t be able to make up an exam if you fake sick the night before. But that may be the wake up call you need.

That said, you need to go over your thorough notes, practice every homework problem, and get a full night of sleep. People often don’t remember or realize that sleep is absolutely the mind’s most critical tool. You’ll retain more if you sleep a full night than if you cover everything but don’t sleep a moment and are semi-catatonic tomorrow.

What are examples of geometry that you use in every day life?

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

I have to film a few examples of people using geometry in everyday life. I already have a video of my friends and me kicking a soccer ball at different angles into different spots on the goal. What else can I film of either myself, my friends, or something you commonly see people doing? Would skateboarding be considered geometry? If so, how?

How about:
1. drawing a circle using a peg and a piece of string
2. Measure the height of a tree using it’s shadow & that of a smaller stick in front of it (uses trigonometry)

What’s the difference between regular geometry and analytical geometry?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Is analytical geometry an easier or harder version of regular geometry? I’m a freshman in high school and got into analytical geometry. What are the main differences?

I think the analytical geometry is the coordinate geometry where we use the distance formula, midpoint formula, and coordinate graphs.
