Can anyone tell me what the spacing for anchor bolts on an addition is?

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

I’m doing an addition and not sure how far apart the achor bolts are to be.

I’ll assume you’re talking about the anchor bolts that you want to put into the foundation, onto which the bottom plate will be attached. If that’s the case, a good rule of thumb is about every 3 - 4 ft. Just make sure they’re large enough to clamp the plate down well and you should be alright.

Can you find a savory dish that cannot be improved with the addition of bacon?

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Someone challenged me to this and im quite frankly stumped. the challenge is on a different site, and i dont know off the top of my head what hasnt been tried.

What savory dish cannot be improved with the addition of bacon?
i do know that the guy has tried/is going to try in the near future sushi rolled up in bacon.

Fish finger sandwiches would be pretty rank with bacon on them.

Has anyone successfully put an addition onto a bi-level home?

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

If so, do you have a picture? Or, does anyone know where I could get pictures or ideas for an addition to a bi-level home?

Sure, add you own new level, or extend an existing one. Draw it roughly as you would like it, and have a draftsman re-do it for building permits and construction.

How do you use addition to solve for a system of linear equations?

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

please help, im in 8th grade and just when i think i got this, it gets all messed up. it’s using addition to solve a system of linear equations. like how do you solve for x and y if 3x+7y= -2 and
2x+3y= -3 pleaseee helllpppp.

To solve a system of equations using addtion, you will have to multiply each one by a different number to make one variable the same, but with different signs.
Take the first one times 2 to get : 6x + 14y = -4
Take the second one times -3 to get : -6x - 9y = 9

We now have x with 6 and - 6

Now if you add these, the x’s will drop out, and you will end up with : 5y = 5
So y = 1
Plug this into either equation to find x
2x + 3(1) = -3
2x + 3 = -3
2x = -6
x = -3

To check : 3(-3) + 7(1) =? -2
-9 + 7 = -2 CHECK
2(-3) + 3(1) =? -3
-6 + 3 = -3 CHECK

How do i find the number of significant figures in an addition problem?

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Im taking a chemistry quiz and i can’t remember how to find the number of significant figures in an addition problem. Can someone help?

For pure addition you don’t use significant figures, you simply use the number of decimal places. You use the fewest number of decimal places that you find in one number in the problem.

Why do people serve mac and cheese on Thanksgiving in addition to the traditional dinner?

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

It always surprises me when people make mac & cheese on T-day. They make it in addition to mashed potatoes, stuffing, veggies, salad, etc. I am very curious. Thanks for your answers.

Mac & cheese has almost become part of the "traditional 21st century" Thanksgiving dinner. Every family has their fave foods in addition to the mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc. Some will cook green beans with onions and mushrooms. Others carrots and peas. Some will cook buttered carrots, squash, etc. It might be a surprise to you bc your mom didn’t cook mac and cheese. Some families have apple pie bc they like apple better than pumpkin. Some will bring out a Christmas fruitcake. The possibilities are endless and part of the fun of Thanksgiving.
