What is the process, steps to go through when adding an addition to your home?

Friday, February 12th, 2010

We are planning to add an addition to our home. Talked to the bank, they are going to appraise our house & then see how much we can get for an equity loan. Talked to contractor, he’s going to write/draw us up a bid. If we qualify for the loan for the amount of money needed to do the addition, what are the next steps in order that we must do? I think we’ve got to get a permit & who knows what else, but not sure how it all works.

You will need to apply for a building permit. You will need to provide the following:
1. plans or drawings indicating the design (floor layout,foundation plan, electric layout
plumbing layout, elevation that shows exterior finishes). Typically they want 2 copies of each.
2. 2 copies of your plot with the addition drawn on it to scale.
3. check for the permit fee.
4. They will have a form to fill out as well.
I would call the permitting office to ask what you need to provide. Also talk to your contractor about making your drawings for you.

Once you have the permit, work can begin. your contractor will probably handle settingup the inspections. The electrical, plumbing, HVAC contractors will have to obtain separate permits and set theor own inspections. hope this helps

What are the steps of the addition and substitution methods?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Can someone break down the steps of how to identify whether an equation needs addition or substitution or both? Thanks.

Most always, you can do either one. Substitution is often easier when one variable is all by itself, or easy to get all by itself, as in"
2x + 3y = 8
x = y - 1

You’d just substitute (y - 1) for the x in equation 1 getting 2(y - 1) + 3y = 9
2y - 2 + 3y = 8
5y - 2 = 8
5y = 10
y = 2 then plug that in to get x.

But if it’s not easy to get a variable by itself, addition is usually easier. As in

2x + 3y = 8
4x + 7y = 18

You would multiply row 1 by -2 then add it to row 2 which will eliminate the x:

-4x -6y = -16
4x + 7y = 18
—————
1y = 2

so again y = 2; plug in to get x

That’s basically it

What class of enzyme catalyzes addition of water to a double bond?

What class of enzyme catalyzes addition of removing hydrogen atoms?

What class of enzyme catalyzes addition of splitting peptide bonds in proteins?

What class of enzyme catalyzes addition of removing from pyruvate?

Hydratases
dehydrogenases
peptidase/protease
something’s wrong in the last question:)

If a woman provides another service in addition to sex, is it still prostitution?

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

My friend and I are watching Law & Order, and they said that if a woman provides another service in addition to sex, it’s not considered prostitution. I tried finding out if this is true, but I am unable to find out anything online. Does anyone know if there’s any truth to this?

Not in addition to the service because that still shows they are still being paid for sex. A person may be able to get away with offering a service and sex just happens. It cannot be a part of the deal.

How to Solve the system of equations using the Addition method?

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Solve the system of equations using the Addition method.

2a + 3b = -1
3a + 5b = -2

I thought you had to be able to eliminate a variable in the first step meaning the +5b would have to be -3b, otherwise i have no clue how to do this, can anyone help me? If you give an answer please explain.

You can MAKE a variable cancel by multiplying each equation by the coefficient of the variable you want to eliminate. For example:

2a + 3b = -1
3a + 5b = -2

Say we wnat to eliminate the "a" term. The first equation has "2a" and the second one has "3a." Multiply the first equation by 3 and the second equation by 2.

6a + 9b = -3
6a + 10b = -4

Now subtract the second equation from the first one.

. .6a + 9b = -3
- .6a + 10b = -4
==============
-b = 1 . . . . .so b = -1; to find a, put b = -1 into either of the two original equations.

Using eq. 1, 2a + 3(-1) = -1
2a - 3 = -1
2a = 2
a = 1

What are the similarities and differences between addition and subtraction?

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

I need help with my math homework. I need to make a chart that has the similarities and differences between addition and subtraction. Here’s what I have so far:

Addition:
Adding a number to another number
Answer is the sum

Subtraction:
Taking away a number from another number
Answer is the difference
Yes, I do understand they are not really related, but I need SOMETHING to write for similarities. ANYTHYNG!!!

Addition combines two numbers or values. Subtraction tells you how far apart they are on the number line. The two are really quite unrelated.

What is the advantage of buying the collectors addition of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2?

What is good to serve for lunch in addition to soup?

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

I am having about 15 people over for lunch this Sunday. I am making two types of soup: Broccoli Cheddar and Jalapeno Corn Chowder and also having bread/biscuits. My husband thinks we should have something else in addition to the soup so I am looking for suggestions as to what would pair good with these soups. The majority of the guests are vegetarians, so please no meat suggestions :)
A simple salad would accompany the soup well. try to avoid overloading it with cheese or all that stuff bc you want the salad to be a contrast to the thick soups.

Is it possible to keep your existing roof and for a 2nd story addition?

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Our roof is only 2 yrs old, and if we decide to add a second story, it seems wasteful to throw it away. Is it possible to tear it off and use it on the 2nd story addition?

I do not think you could re-use the shingles, you might possible salvage some of the decking for re-use.

What are the products of an addition reaction of 2bromobutane with sodium methoxide?

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

We havn’t covered addition reactions without double bonds and its in the assignment. Any help would be much appreciated thanks!
thats why i can’t work it out. its the third question with the same reactants…i’v already done elimination and nucleophilic substitution

Seems like it would be an elimination reaction instead. Methoxide is a strong base, so it would deprotonate 2-bromobutane.

The two possible products are trans-2-butene and 1-butene.
